While testing and demonstrating this wordpress based site to colleagues, I had problems with the Add This plugin. This was caused by my Ghostery settings which I use on all browsers that support it. This site uses the “Add This” plugin which uses cookies, and so Ghostery will block it, unless you set Ghostery to permit it. I have also now installed the EU Cookie Info plugin and I have amended the “About this Wiki” page to document the use of Cookies and repeat the advice on Ghostery. Continue reading “Cookies”

The first was at Sun, the second on snipsnap, the third on 1+1’s canned wordpress, and the 4th will be on wordpress at 1+1.

I have chosen to use the wordpress theme, zbench, it’s wordpress.org page is here…..

I have been experimenting with rating and installed and uninstalled the following plugins

comment rating field plugin, comment rating widget, rate, rate this page, rating widget

I finally settled on Vote-it-Up, see also its plugin site, which I comment on at this article on this wiki. It supports up and down, it contains a widget for both voting and displaying popular scores.

I am currently experimenting with tweet-button, which I’ll probably keep and Add This, which I probably won’t this time; I reckon Vote it Up and Tweet are what I want. (I’ll drop addthis because in order to tune it to do what I want, will involve a shit load of programming in languages I don’t know. It used to be easier, but integrating the vote-this-up, particularly given that it may be abandonware, is not something I want to take on. I am interested in offering twitter, delicious, mail, bookmark and vote this up.)

I added the Related Post plugin in June 2013

I added artiss code embed in Oct 2013, see Embedding Code in WordPress

Also see my Add This page. This was the name in the bliki, but I used both share and add this in the side bar.

Add This

I created this page to test scripts published by http://addthis.com. It was originally created on the Qube. See below, Early Experiments for what I wrote at the time, all probably useless now. I have installed their widget and so even lower down on this page, after the article , are add this’s sharing buttons. I returned to the issues they answer in Feb 2015. It should be noted that at that time on the blog I use custom code implemented in the child theme, since I moved to Nulis I am using a vanilla implementation of Add This, on the wiki.
