This details my notes in making the game multiplayer. I am pretty certain that I bought a second copy to make this happen. I know I bought a second CD/DVD copy. I have some notes on logging in, and some links which were once helpful. This article contains broken Bioware links.
Logging into a Game
The manual, (Page 28) states that the login dialog is based upon the Bioware Community login. This has an associated e-mail account. The login dialog when playing NWN as a multiplayer game asks you to authenticate your self using the community login. The Login/@assword pair are case sensitive at this point in time. This thread at forums.bioware.com started by by me documents this fact.
- Bioware NWN Forum List includes server admin forum.
- Bioware’s NWN Technical Support FAQ includes some stuff on IP ports and firewalls. This may be relevant if trying to connect to an externally hosted game and I may have a problem with my router, which seems to require to know the address of the receiving PC, which if it acquires its address using DHCP is a problem.
Sorcerers Place have a resource on Multiplayer here…. I have not yet read it. It looks very dated and not very technical.
They have a Linux Server download page, which claims to hold a comments page.
The google query “nwn server linux” which looks pretty good, but unfortunately uses screen. We’ll have to see; screen works on the tty and they recommend using ssh, it could work as I want it to.
